This screencast tutorial (https://youtu.be/tU_ENKJiShY?si=J5TG9zKWjC9ZPhYI) explains how to define your niche when creating a digital portfolio. The purpose of this tutorial is to help people cut through the clutter and understand how to identify a clear niche. The intent was to have my audience of young professionals and students

strengthen their portfolios and make their work stand out to their intended audience. In order to remember and hopefully gain traction and even job opportunities if that is what they desire. In the video, I explain how to think about one’s skills, interests, and goals in order to create a clear direction.

I used https://www.canva.com/templates to develop my visual template, https://manage.wix.com/dashboard/5ea7155d-4a08-4da4-a4ba-995a3a316233/setup to take images from my own site, https://screenpal.com to record my video/edit, and https://www.youtube.com to upload my video to the public.

I expect users to find my video through search results and algorithmic recommendations on YouTube.  I added to my description the purpose which will hopefully guide users to find my video. Someone might search the phrase niche or portfolio and stumble across my video. Alongside these users who are already researching into solving and finding insight on making their portfolio stand out my video can come up as recommended since it falls into the category of research. In the article by Christine Wolf, the author explains that people often prefer video tutorials because it demonstrates a step by step visuals process. This shows viewers what goes into accomplishing their goals, and because of this, I think users will find worth in watching. Since they may already be trying to accomplish a goal, I show them how to achieve that goal. This gives the viewer an incentive to continue watching. Wolf also notes that viewers often evaluate the credibility of videos through “common sense” cues as seeing the end result and evaluating its success. Since I use my own site to show how I applied my own methodology, it gives my video credibility and a clear final result, instilling in my viewers the confidence to follow the steps to achieve an outcome.
